| About The Seychelles Social Club of Melbourne Inc
A group of Seychellois has joined together in order to
form a social club for
the Seychellois community in Melbourne, Australia. On
Sunday 6 October 2002,
some sixty Seychellois and their friends gathered for a
meeting/BBQ
and resulted in the birth of the Seychelles Social Club
of Melbourne Inc |

Just to remind the Club
members and members of the Seychelles Community in Melbourne
that:
The Seychelles Social Club of
Melbourne Inc is registered with the office of Consumer and
Business Affairs Victoria. (Reg No: A0043389H), making it a
legal association in Australia.
It holds an Australian
Business Number (ABN: 41135448786), meaning it can hold
fundraising events in Australia and will not have any issue with
the Australian Tax Office or the office of Consumer Affairs
Victoria.
The club has been issued with
a certificate of being a "Not For Profit Organisation" as all
its profits are not paid to members or committee members. No one
gets paid!
The Club is allowed to sell
food at any club events as it holds a food license and
the kitchen helpers hold certificates for food handling. The
Club’s food handling records and procedures are reviewed by
council annually.
The Club can also sell
alcohol and guests at any club events are permitted to BYO
drinks and consume alcohol inside any building where Club events
are held as the Club holds a liquor license.
Further more this Club holds
a public liability insurance certificate of currency,
meaning it has gone out of its way to ensure that all members
and guests at club functions are covered for injury.
The Club holds a gambling
license to play bingo, run a lottery (prize value upto
$5,000) and to hold raffles on club events as it has been
certified a “Not For Profit Organisation”.
To sum up this club has been
set properly and professionally with a very good intention to
last for the long term and to benefit the whole Seychellois
community in Melbourne.
When you attend any club
function, whether as a guest or as a helper, the club ensures
that all the legal requirements necessary to hold entertainment
events have been attended to, leaving you to enjoy yourself with
none of these issues to worry about.
Australia is a very well
regulated country and the Club is forced to comply and abide to
the rules and regulations set by the authorities.
